I did a 7 mile downwind race this past weekend on my standup paddleboard. It took me around 1:45. I used an 11'6" Naish Hawaii that is meant more for surfing than speed. I found myself one of the furthest guys out by myself for the whole race and thinking about sharks. Last year a guy had to fight off a Great White with his paddle. Above is a photo of a sunfish. As I was paddling, thinking about sharks, I saw one of these things shooting up from depths below and jumping out of the water a few feet in front of my board and then just swimming away. How many of you have ever seen a sunfish? I made it in finally to a BBQ and cold Sierra Nevada so all in all it was fun day.

Good story Jandi. I've never seen a sunfish. I'm not even sure I believe in them.

Just believe in them and have faith. I'm praying for you.
